Ten Minutes with Malachi, Lesson 3, Part 5

Malachi 3:7 NLT
[7] Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to
obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Heaven’s
Armies. “But you ask, ‘How can we return when we have never gone away?’

We can see the same type of rebellion in modern societies. Since the Garden of Eden,
men and women have been deceived by satan into disobeying God. That disobedience
can be seen in the rampant display of sinful, depraved activities by mankind today. As
the saying goes, what used to be hidden in alleys for fear of God is now paraded on main
street in view of all.

However, God told Israel, and He tells us today, that if they, and we, will return to
obedience to God, if people will just return to following the terms of the covenant, then
God will return to us all. God, in His mercy and grace, will once again be our God and we
will be His people.

This, friends, is the basis for the good news that Jesus came, died, was resurrected and
conquered death, hell and the grave. The good news is that we can return to God
through faith in Jesus. The good news is that God will forgive, if we will just return to
Him. But, like Israel, we have to accept that we are outside the will of God, or we won’t
try to return to Him.

Reminder–The title of this study will change to “A Few Minutes with Malachi” in a couple of weeks. Look for that new title to appear soon. You are welcome to leave prayer requests in the comments box. God Bless.
