(James 1:5-8)
When we ask for wisdom, we should expect to receive wisdom because of faith in God alone. We must not expect the world to provide us with the wisdom we need. Now, how can we differentiate between worldly wisdom and God’s wisdom?
Andrew Cuomo—“Prayer had nothing to do with people getting better in New York.” Cuomo relies on the knowledge of men to see progress in fighting the pandemic. He completely discounts the wisdom of God.
Worldly wisdom doesn’t produce proper results in lives. (James 3:14-16)
Worldly wisdom produces jealousy, arguments, false assumptions and disorder. Why? Because it originates in rebellious minds that do not recognize God’s place as creator and the source of all knowledge. Worldly wisdom will not bring honor to God because it discounts God, just like Governor Cuomo discounted God. The world’s wisdom does not produce faith in God alone. It produces faith in mankind and our limited abilities, our limited knowledge and our limited power to change circumstances. It produces man’s version of life.
Wisdom from God produces different results in people.
(James 3:17)
God’s wisdom will lead us away from confusion, away from jealousy, and away from strife. It will result in our lives producing peace, gentleness and mercy. Godly wisdom produces good deeds done in sincerity and without prejudices toward other people. When we exercise Godly wisdom, we bring honor to God.
Godly wisdom produces faith in the all-knowing, all-powerful, all-present supreme creator of life who possesses a completely different approach to life than man does.
Be careful about what type of wisdom you bring into your life. When you seek God for wisdom, make sure your are getting your ability to apply your knowledge and experiences from the right source. If the source does not honor God, then it’s not from God. Godly wisdom helps us increase our faith in Him.
Let’s pray that we find God’s wisdom, not the world’s wisdom.
