LESSON 3, PART 4 (NOTES FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED FOLLOW THE VIDEO.)
Titus 3:4-7 NLT
[4] But- When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, [5] he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. [6] He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. [7] Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
The remedy for being a slave to disobedience and sinful desires is found in Jesus. In His kindness and love, God sent Jesus to provide a way for us to be cleansed of our sins that were caused by our slavery to our lusts and desires. He sent Jesus so we could be born again spiritually and have a new life through faith in Him.
The Holy Spirit draws us to this cleansing. He convicts us of our sinful ways, shows us how we can become righteous in God’s eyes and reveals how evil will be judged. The Holy Spirit also leads us into truth. He guides us and comforts us. He anoints us and helps us live in holiness before God.
When we repent of our sins and seek forgiveness through faith in Jesus, we become joint-heirs with Jesus to eternal life. When we place our futures in Christ’s hands, we are made righteous in God’s eyes, renew our spiritual relationship with God and no longer have to obey the dictates of our old sinful nature. We are made free from sin and it effects. Who the Son of God sets free is free indeed.
The remedy to being controlled by evil is found in Jesus and His offer to be forgiven. Jesus was the remedy for the people on Crete. He is still the remedy for those controlled by sin today.
