Lesson 4, Part 2
Malachi 4:2-3 NLT
[2] “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. [3] On the day when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
Now God turns to His promise that the righteous would escape His wrath. He tells them three things. First, for all who fear God, the future holds healing when the brightness and glory of righteousness rises. Second, they will be freed from anything that would hold them from liberty, and they will rejoice and leap for joy like a calf that has been let out of a stall to go into a lush, wide open pasture. Third, they will walk on the wicked like walking on a dirt road.
If we compare these promises to the ones God gives the modern church, we see they are quite similar. He promises in the New Testament that the eternal home of those who are faithful to Him will be a place of no more sorrow, pain or death. Healing for the nations will be found in the leaves from the tree of life found in the New Jerusalem. The righteous will come with Jesus when He fights and defeats evil once and for all time. Those who put their trust in Jesus will rule and reign with Him in the new heaven and new earth.
What glorious promises God made to the faithful remnant in Malachi. And what glorious promises He makes to His church today. I encourage you to keep the faith because God will do for the righteous what He says He will do.
